Medicare

  • Part A

    Know as hospital insurance. It covers: inpatient care in a hospital, Inpatient care in a skilled nursing facility (not custodial or long-term care), hospice care, home health care, inpatient care in a religious non-medical healthcare institution. Copayments, coinsurance, or deductibles may apply for each service. if you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working you may qualify for premium-free Part A. If not, you may be required to buy Part A.

  • Part B

    Cover’s medically necessary doctor’s services, outpatient care, home health, durable medical equipment, mental health services, and other medical services. In addition it covers preventive services. Most will pay Part B premium every month, even if enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan that provides Part A and Part B coverage.

  • Part C

    Medicare Advantage plans (MA plans) is another way to get Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. Medicare Advantage plans that includes drug coverage is also know as MAPD plans. These plans set limits on what you’ll have to pay out-of-pocket each year for services and will need to use the health care providers that are within the plan’s network.

  • Part D

    Medicare drug coverage (Part D or PDP), helps pay for prescription drugs you need. These sometimes can be add on coverage or standalone. If you decide not to get it when you’re first eligible and don’t have creditable prescription drug coverage, or get extra help, you’ll likely pay a late enrollment penalty if you join later.

  • Supplement Insurance (Medigap)

    Policies sold by private companies that help pay some of the remaining health care costs for covered services and supplies, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Some policies also covers services that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. You must have Part A and Part B to buy Medicare Supplement Insurance. Monthly premium will be paid for Medigap in addition to the monthly Part B premium to Medicare.

  • Dental and Vision

    Some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Cost plans may coverage for dental and vision services. Original Medicare (Part A or Part B) does not cover most dental care, dentures and eye exams (for prescription glasses).
